The Power of Appreciation

Appreciation of things, objects, and phenomenon including humane and nature, has the ability to turn things around; in other words, it has the power to heal and to make one feel good. This power works on the principle of reciprocity, that is, it affect both the one appreciating and the one being appreciated. How is this possible?

Whenever you compliment an individual, it causes you to feel good and it also causes the individual you compliment to feel good about them self. When we compliment people around us we likely going to help them increase their self esteem, they feel recognized, and important. Contrary to this when we we fail to appreciate people and say derogatory words to them all we are simply doing is killing them, striping them of hope and making life complicated for them. Not only are we killing others but we ourselves is a victim of our own weapon; passing insulting and derogatory comments instill in us a feeling of disgust which causes our facial muscle to be tensed.

So brother, sister, father mother, son and daughter, you see someone wearing a new beautiful look, tell him or her that she's looking sweet/beautiful, look around you and tell the person next you, that he or she looks good in that outfit, these words as simple as they are goes a long way to save life, give hope and strength to carry on. Take for example the story of a woman who on her way to her place of work, met with another woman who was wearing an extremely low hair cut and told her that she really look beautiful with the hair cut. The woman with the low haircut thanked her and told her how much she had made her day with that few words and that she actually lost her hair to cancer treatment. All I am trying to say is that, we should learn to appreciate those around us. That simple word such as I like you hair style, I love your way of doing things, you did well, well done, thank you, etc. has power to make people happy, feel good and heal.

Best wishes from psychogossip. See you next post.
